A Thorough Curriculum Designed to Effectively Develop the Skills of bag Making

In this course, you will use the course materials provided by the school to learn how to design and create classic and popular type of bags. The course is intended to teach you the basics of bag making and to take you through the entire process step by step, starting from pattern making, where you will learn how to make several types of bags. Beginners with no sewing machine experience are welcome. You will start by familiarizing yourself with a sewing machine. Classes will be taught in English. The course materials will also be provided in English.

During this 55-hour course, you will make three types of bags: a nylon shoulder bag, a tote bag made of canvas and leather, and a small leather travelling bag. This course is designed for you to learn the basic techniques of bag making, including pattern drafting, cutting, and sewing.

In order to be able to design a bag for your project, you will start learning how to make a pattern according with the drawing. Pattern making is an essential skill to master for you to be able to make your original bag designs. Sewing machine beginners are also welcome. You will learn the basics of using a sewing machine, including how to thread the upper threading and how to wind the bobbin. All our previous students with no prior sewing machine experience were able to complete all their projects under the guidance of our instructors.

There are different types of hardware attached to a bag. In this course, you will learn some basic techniques of how to attach them as well. You will also learn how to use nylon, canvas, and leather, including the characteristics of these most common of bag materials in details. The lining of the bags which is inner side of the bag that not shown from outside, is also an essential material for bag making. In this course, you will use and learn different types of linings.

Basics knowledge: Learn the basics of bag making, including the design terminology used in the bag making industry, as well as the anatomy of a bag.

Sewing machines and the tools: Learn about sewing machines and the tools. In order to make high quality bags, it is essential to select the right tools and to use them properly.

Cutting process Characteristics of materials: Cut out parts according with your pattern. The goal is to cut the fabric with precision and speed, while paying attention to the characteristics of the material.

Assembling plan: Learn how to assemble each part of bags, step by step. See how different parts have specific roles within the bag design.

attachment of hardware and accessories: Learn about different types of hardware and how to attach them to the bag.

Parts making: Make the handles and the pockets. All parts would be made. Will not use commercially available ready-made parts.

Inspection: Check the quality of the bag, including the finishing of each component, assembling, and sewing.

Certificate of completion for the basic level course: You will be awarded a certificate of completion upon finishing this basic-level course. Once you have completed the course, you will have the basic skills to create bags and to bring your original designs to life.
